What do I need for class?

All dogs attending class at UP are required to be up to date on Rabies, Distemper, and Parvo, we also recommend having Bordetella. Puppies are exempt from Rabies until 6 months of age per city ordinance.

Vaccination records can be brought the first night of class or emailed to us at info@upliftingpaws.org

Can I bring my family?

While we encourage all members of the family to be involved in a dog's training, in order to cultivate the best learning environment for all clients we ask that children are accompanied with an additional adult to help intervene if disruptions should occur.

Which class is right for me?

We typically suggest all clients start in one of our entry level classes: Puppy Manners (4 months and under), Impulse Control, or Adult Basics.

If you have taken classes elsewhere and would like to be evaluated for a class placement or you feel that group classes may not be the best starting place for you (struggling with dog reactivity or complex behavioral issues), feel free to email us at info@upliftingpaws.org.

What if I miss a class?

We understand that unforeseen circumstances may arise, preventing you from attending a scheduled evening of class. Missing a class is acceptable, but we kindly request that you inform us in advance via email or phone call, so that we can make appropriate arrangements.

While we will make efforts to accommodate a makeup, it should be noted that such makeups are not guaranteed. Ultimately, missing an evening of class will result in the loss of that particular night of service. The responsibility is on the client to make every effort to attend all classes as per the posted schedule.

Any client who misses more than 2 nights of classes will be asked to retake the class without refund.

I want to train my dog to be a Service dog, where do I start?

Uplifting Paws primarily focuses on program trained service dogs but we are willing to assist clients with training their own dogs for service work. However, it's important to remember, not all dogs are cut out for service work. Service dogs have a very hard job to do and many dogs will find the environments and tasks to be overwhelming. Anyone interested in pursuing Service work with their dogs is encouraged to list their goals when signing up for classes, we start our Service oriented clients in our group classes to lay a solid training foundation to then build off of later on.
